Posadas

Las posadas are fiestas that begin on the 16th and end on the 29th of December. In Mexico, during this period, there are many posadas every evening. Both invited and non-invited guests gather at a neighbors houses where the posada is going to take place in the evening. They are then divided into two groups. One group goes outside the house with candles that are lit and papers with the verses that they will sing. The people are dressed up as virgin mary and joseph. Sometimes they have a" burro" and they walk with candles. During the rest of the party we break pinatas and we eat the traditional things like bunuelos colacion, tamales, and ponche.
